LDS Family Services Adolescent Addiction Recovery Program Pilot Group

LDS Family Services is pleased to announce an Adolescent Addiction Recovery Program Pilot Group for the St. George area. Your stake has been selected to participate in this pilot program. This will be a 12 step group for adolescents who struggle with substance abuse ages 15-18. The group will follow a similar format to the current LDS Family Services Addiction Recovery Program. It will be facilitated by Church Service missionaries. The group will not address any kind of sexual compulsive behavior.

The group is confidential and free of charge. In addition to the youth group, we will also be holding a family support group for parents at the same time in the same location. This group is also confidential and free of charge.

In order to attend, the youth must first go through an interview at LDS Family Services. Parents should ask to make an appointment for the youth 12 step group. Parents will have to sign a consent form and release of information. Because of the nature of the addiction recovery program, youth who are self motivated to overcome their addiction are the best candidates for success and will be given priority. Unfortunately, space is limited to 20 youth on a first come first serve basis.

This group is only a pilot and will run for 13 weeks only. The group's effectiveness will then be evaluated. All are hoping that this group will be successful and able to be implemented in other areas to address other issues. Because of limited space and resources, we realize we may not be able to fully meet the needs of the community. We apologize if we are not able to meet the needs of your local unit. LDS Family Services welcomes your comments and feedback.
